Jonathan Xian General Committee 2015 Production Choreographer | Good evening! Choreographer introduction time! This next production choreographer is part of the 2015 Flare committee. He's an incredibly versatile dancer having experience in both breaking and contemporary genres. This is his first year choreographing in production after joining Flare last year. This is Jonathan (X, not Y). Throughout high school, Jonathan was a B-boy, dedicating much of his time to practising windmills and training his strength, as well as battling and occasionally choreographing and performing showcases with his high school break-dancing club, Soul Power. Since joining Flare in 2014, however, he has found himself opening up to and developing himself in other styles, particularly contemporary, both in Flare as well as in external projects. This year he returns to his roots with a breaking piece. Choreographing for production for the first time, he has aimed to turn this dance style into something expressive, mixing it with other genres such as lyrical and urban. More importantly, the dancers in his piece will be telling a story. Jonathan has found it rewarding to work with a large cast, in which each member is dedicated and talented, and is excited to be able to perform alongside them on stage in a few weeks. |
