Jun Takahashi Production Choreographer Artistic Director, 2014 - 2016 | T-10 hours until opening night! If you haven't bought your tickets yet, do not fret as there is still time but spots are literally running out so don't leave it to the last minute. Before I leave you all this production season, I would like to introduce the final choreographer for "BE". This is surprisingly the first time this individual has choreographed for production despite being with Flare since 2007! It's the one and only: Jun. Jun started her dance adventure in 2006. In 2007, she joined both Flare and Melbourne University Dancesport Club (MUDC). She performed in her first Flare's Annual Production that year (Poise). Since 2009, Jun has actively been choreographing for Flare gigs and teaching casual classes. In the same year, she was recruited by MUTE crew and was exposed to urban choreography, house, locking and popping Now she is our Current Artistic Director presenting her first ever production piece. Since Jun was a kid, she has had a fascination with the idea of humans who possess special abilities (think X-Men) and had always wanted to do a cray cray piece that touches on the subject. Her piece this year's production was inspired by one of Miley Cyrus' videos. She felt that the concept was interesting and matched what she wanted to portray on stage. With the help of her 35 strong army of freak-freaks she finally gets to achieve her dream piece. She hopes that her dancers enjoy themselves on stage and looks forward to dancing with them all. We hope that you all enjoy Flare's production this year and we definitely can't WAIT to show you what we've been working on. See you all soon! |
