Bonnie Su Production Choreographer | With less than 10 days to opening night, it is time to introduce our next choreographer, Bonnie Su. Think back to childhood dance classes - do you remember that one chubby, super hyperactive kid? That was me - Bonnie Su - a young, chubby 7-year-old hopeful, who stuffed her face with souvlakis between rehearsals, with nothing but endless energy. Fast forward to a pivotal day in 2006, a slightly older young hopeful Bonnie Su was watching a lunchtime showcase of her high school's hip-hop team. This was the first time that I had seen hip-hop, and like ice-cream, this was love at first sight. The rest is history. My fondest memories of dancing to date include being a frog tapper in a musical, competing in nationals competitions twice, and joining Hollabak Dance Crew. In 2014, I stumbled into Flare and have since highly enjoyed exploring other styles, in particular, lyrical and contemporary. My piece this year is predominantly urban as per my primary genre, with a hint of the lyrical and contemporary influences over the last few years. In my cast of 28, perhaps you can spot the not-so-young chubby hopeful Bonnie Su? Did you read it? Bonnie Su is challenging you to find her in the piece! So better get your hands on those tickets so you can say 'I found you!' |
Before our next choreographer gets introduced, why not take a look at the trailer for our 15th production, Ascendance Since the beginning of Flare Dance Ensemble in 2001, dancers from around the world have left their mark in our history. This year we celebrate our 15th production and pay tribute to those that laid the foundations for what has become the biggest university dance club in Melbourne.
